Seit 1999 war Leslie Benzies Teil des Developer-Teams der Grand Theft Auto Reihe. Seit GTA 3 übernahm er die Rolle des Producers für das Franchise und wurde der Chef des Departments Rockstar North in Edinburgh. Als er nach dem Release von GTA 5 im Jahre 2014 ein Sabbat-Jahr einlegte war seine Rückkehr noch geplant. Soweit sollte es nun nicht kommen. Laut Kotaku bestätigte Rockstar den Abschied:

“We can confirm that Leslie Benzies went on sabbatical on September 1, 2014 and has decided not to return to work for the company. We are very grateful for Leslie’s contributions to Rockstar over the last 15 years as we worked together to make some amazing games.

Leslie helped us build an incredible team that will continue to create great experiences for our fans. Leslie will always be a friend to the company and of course we are going to miss him but we wish him the absolute best for the future.”

Ob Benzies den Videospielen nun komplett fern bleibt, oder womit er in Zukunft seine Zeit verbring ist unklar. Geht uns aber auch nichts an – Danke für die tollen Spiele!
